Get (1)
Get is commonly used in the English language. English as a Second Language learner may find the words’ usage difficult to understand because it has so many different uses.
One meaning is to “receive”.
Did you get my email? I’m sure I sent it to you.
Get (2)
Another meaning is to “become”.
If you wait too long for the plane you will get tired.
Get (3)
The third way to use ‘get’ is to “understand”. This meaning is usually used in casual or informal conversation.
That book was confusing. Did you or your friend get it?

Apart from the three previous meanings – ‘receive’, ‘become’ and ‘understand’, “get” can be used to respond or answer.
My mobile telephone is ringing but I won’t get it before it rings out. Could you?

Yet another meaning for get is to buy.
I am going to get a new car from the dealers today.

Finally, get can mean to retrieve something from someone or take it to them.
The milkman delivered the milk this morning. Can you go and get it for me?
